Background of the Study
Urbanization in Nigeria has led to increased demand for housing, particularly in fast-growing cities like Jos. Housing policies have been implemented to address the challenges of overcrowding, inadequate infrastructure, and high housing costs. Affordable housing schemes aim to provide low- and middle-income earners with access to decent housing. This study will assess the role of housing policies in urban development in Jos North LGA, Plateau State, with a focus on affordable housing schemes.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the government's efforts to provide affordable housing, Jos North LGA continues to face significant challenges in urban development, including the rising cost of housing, inadequate infrastructure, and informal settlements. This study examines the role of housing policies in addressing these challenges and promoting sustainable urban development.
